Dougherty Valley Bridge 2025-2026
The Bridge Program, hosted by Dougherty Valley Speech & Debate, is a competitive academic initiative that prepares middle school students for high school Speech & Debate. It offers intensive training in speech and debate, focusing on critical thinking, public speaking, research, and argumentation. Students also gain experience by attending tournaments.
Key Features:
Led by: Accomplished high school varsity mentors trained by experienced coaches
Format: Small-group instruction with personalized feedback
Debate Events: Public Forum, Lincoln-Douglas, Congressional Debate
Speech Events: Extemporaneous, Impromptu, Prepared Speech, Interpretation
Schedule: Thursdays, 4:00–6:00 PM (24 sessions from September to April)
Location: Dougherty Valley High School Commons
Important Dates: Due to high interest and limited enrollment, tryouts are mandatory for all students—new and returning.
August 28: Tryouts for all new and returning members (4:00–6:00 PM, DVHS Commons)
August 31: Parents of accepted students notified with payment instructions
September 4: Incoming Parent Night (6:00–7:00 PM, DVHS Commons)
